CRM 2015 Client On Premise installation installs wrong update version (1.0, 1.1) instead of 0.1 at end of installation

I hope somebody can help me as I am going crazy here... I have tried to install the CRM 2015 client for a user and every time at the end of the installation the installer checks for Microsoft updates and installs the wrong update, i.e., updates for CRM Online (1.0, 1.1). I have tried using the link in the web client (get CRM for OUtlook) and the offline file approach. Both result in the same result.

I would greatly welcome any thoughts anybody might have. This is happening on one user laptop, not on others.

Thanks

Aad

Install the outlook client without updates. Once installed user should be able to apply new updates through window auto update which will install right update for installed version.

Hi Chitra, thanks for that quick reply. How can I install without updates? In some cases the client is installed without updates, in some cases it asks me if I want to install the updates and in some cases it installs without asking me (resulting in incorrect updates being installed). Hope you can help me with that step! Thanks again Aad

When installation prompts for update it has 2 checkbox whether you to downupdate or not choose the second option that will let you install without updates.

I am sorry Chitra, but that was the case in older versions. Now you can only choose the folder you wish to install the client in and to enable offline capabilities.. No more choosing whether or not to update the installation files...

how about uninstalling the wrong update by going to add/remove programs->View installed updates. Once uninstalled download the right update from the crm 2015 rollup and install it.

You can't uninstall the update as it was installed with the client. Uninstalling the update results in the update asking for the original installation path which is no longer available.. Anybody else have any ideas?!?!

You should use the latest version - so you should use Dynamics CRM for Outlook Version 1.1 even when connected to an OnPrem 0.1 instance.

    Thanks,

    Scott

Sorry Scott, wrong answer... Update 1.1 is for online only, going offline breaks on the account entity in our case if the 1.0 or the 1.1 update is installed..why can't anybody explain how to install the outlook client without updates being installed..?

Sorry, but Scott is right indeed ;)

I know version naming can be tricky, but here on my screenshot you can see my outlook plugin version 1.1 working on CRM server 0.1... and i'm on premise:

But anyway, besides the naming of your updates, what exactly is going wrong on your client ?!

Hi Thomas, I am not saying you can't install the 1.1 update on clients connecting to CRM server on prem running update 0.1. There is no choice whether or not to install the update it seems. Working online with the outlook client running the 1.0/1.1 update does nto cause problems. After going offline I get an invalid argument error loading an account form. Asked if I want to continue running scripts, choosing yes creates just more errors, choosing no results in an empty account form. This error does not happen when I don't have the 1.0/1.1 update installed. In my pea brain the conclusion is then that the error is directly related to the installed update (happens both with 1.0 and 1.1 updates). Thanks for your thoughts Aad
