And absolutiley we can support 5.5 just fine.... just be SURE you have the ability to get back to Windows XP if a workstation crashes (you will very soon not be able to get XP on new machines... XP is already gone from certain Microsoft download sites). Also, be sure you have the ability to get the SQL version and the Windows server version you are now on.
In the old days, it was possible to keep a system for 10 years or so without updating (Accountant's Heaven!) but nowadays, the environment forces you to keep current.
Another scenario that can force an upgrade is if another product you use will ONLY work on, say, Windows 7.
