Delete components from Managed solution

Posted on by 2,725

Hi,

I have been following the below blog to delete the components from target environment.

https://www.henryjammes.com/2018/09/how-to-delete-components-from-managed-solution.html

Does anyone knows how can I delete a component from the target environment if I accidently delete the unmanaged solution from the source environment.

    Hi RahulGupta1307,

Upgrading a solution installs a new solution layer immediately above the base layer and any existing patches.

Applying solution upgrades involves deleting all existing patches and the base layer.

Solution upgrades will delete components that existed but are no longer included in the upgraded version.

How did that work for you?  I'm in the same situation.  I have a managed solution that has most of the fields for the table in it.  I need to delete a number of the fields but the consultant we used doesn't have the unmanaged solution anywhere.  From what I understand, I should create new unmanaged solutions that has all of the same components of the managed solution.  Deploy it as managed, delete the original managed solution and it will not delete any of the components because they are all contained in the new managed solution?

It does not remove this way as the old managed solution already has that component in it so the component does not get deleted.

The only way I could find is to deploy the new managed solution with all the components and then delete the old managed solution and then deploy a new managed solution with that component deleted.

    Hi Rahul,

You can get the components in default solution in source.Go to settings->Customization->Custmize the system you can get all components in the default solution .& keep those components by creating one more unmanaged solution in source then try to do clone & remove components from target.

    Hi,

If you are importing a managed solution, you only need to follow the steps in the article you provided.

If you imported an unmanaged solution, all the components become part of default solution.

At this time, you can manually delete the component you want to delete from the UI interface.

If this helped you, I'd appreciate it if you'd mark this as a Verified Answer, which may in turn help others as well.

    Best Regards,
