Unique identifiers

Posted on by 10

Are the unique identifiers unique only inside the organization or completely unique? Meaning can I export contacts from my organization's dynamic instance and import them into another organization's dynamics instance and not have clashes of ids?

    Hi,

It will not cause any difference and this is what we do when we migrate configuration or any reference entity data i.e. maintain the Guid across environment.

However, when you export from your organization and import it into your target, you can also ignore to map the guid so it will create new guids.

In short, it doesn't matter if you bring the same guid or create new ones.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

I am not sure but Guids are only unique on the Entity level, i mean there's a high probabilty that you'll get conflicts.
