How do you convert an email into a custom entity by clicking a ribbon button?

Hello,

I would like to convert an email into a custom entity by clicking a ribbon button rather than converting to a case, opportunity or lead (which are currently the only option OOB).

I tried creating a ribbon button using XrmToolBox that calls a workflow that creates a record (of the custom entity) but that did not work.

Also, once the new record is created I would like to remove the email from the queue and open the new entity/process flow that was created for the user.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

    Workflow is possible possible solution especially because it's easy to configure. You have bunch of different ways but I believe workflow + small js and ribbon customization is the easiest to implement.

    So far I have tried using a ribbon button to call a workflow (using javascript) that creates a record of the custom entity. Still trying get that to work but looking for alternate solutions as well.

    As per my knowledge, this is not available for customization.

    This is what the ribbon looks like currently in the Email entity. I would like the "Convert to opinion" button create a custom entity (similar to creating a case)
