Adding Custom field to the share Point Document

Hello all,

We are using Dynamics 365 on-premises,  with SharePoint(2016) integration. i have a requirement where user need to differentiate the documents associated for this entity. users will update 2 kinds of documents

1) Personal info.doc 2)Contact.doc . Is there any way can we provide users to select  "document type"(custom option set field, with two document type names) while  they are uploading documents.

    Hello Cameron, Sorry for the delay. at first our req is for custom entity. I ended up updating OOB Title field. I customized document associated grid with Flyout controller (buttons inside flyout which labeled with document type names) . Later with the help of JavaScript

    and plug-in i managed to update OOB Title field.

    Hi ZeroHar, I'm trying to acheive the same thing (being able to categorise uploaded documents through the CRM). Are you able to provide more detail on the steps you undertook to achieve this? In particular, in which entity did you add the custom field?

    i added new site column document type for the site content & created custom field with same name in CRM. they both are in sync on my On-line 365, but same thing is not working in On-premises 365. both are server based integration. did i miss any thing?

    Thanks for the response. I did added new site column , it's asking to select document type while being uploaded a new document from SharePoint. I created new content type also, but how do i get new upload button or selecting document type from CRM side?

    You will have to add site column to store meta data about the document being uploaded. You also have to create a new content type so that you can get two different type of upload buttons for uploading documents.

    You do not need to make any integration changes, its just pure SharePoint change
