Text Field URL auto prefix with https instead of http

Hi,

Wondering if anyone can help me with an issue we have with Text field type URL.  Based on my past experience with CRM and also the TechNet document below, it shall have "http"//" as auto prefix.  However, right now, I am experiencing with auto prefix with "https://", wondering if anyone knows how do I change it back to "http://"?

The text provides a hyperlink to open the page specified. Any text that does not begin with a valid protocol will have “http://” prepended to it.

It should default to "http://" unless their is a redirection or something of that sort. Have you checked the URL and confirmed it works without the SSL prefix?

Yes, I checked the field value and I can over-write the system auto-populated https://myurl.com to http://myurl.com .  And yes, you are correct.... it should default to http:// .  Do you know how can I change it back?

    Hi,

it's a system feature - we can't control default prefix.

And yes, it is using https now by default, at least in 365 online. I'm guessing there was a change (intentional or not - no idea).

Yes, it was intentional.  Most service providers are now going secure-by-default, so expect that to be the case on almost all online sites.

One of my customers has reported the same "undocumented, unwanted new feature". I'll raise it with the Product Group and, if appropriate, raise it as a bug.

Is there any way to block this behaviour?

Hi, did you manage to solve this issue?

Adding https not just http isn't working for us. It just makes people using the system think that the web address is wrong and makes it quicker to use a search engine.

    Thanks

    Hi all,

I wrote some code to get rid of this https-thing :-). You can find the whole answer on my blog:

Let me know if it worked out for you!
