Outlook Client Trace does not work

Hi,

we use CRM 2016 and Outlook Client v 8.0.0. One of the clients produces an error message when trying to set the regarding for an email. So I want to set up the tracing. I closed Outlook, started the Diagnostics tool and enabled tracing on the extended tab and opened Outlook again. Then I did the same things like before, closed Outlook - but no trace file. So I checked the registry - not Trace entries in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRMClient section. I added the following entries like described:

I started Outlook, did the same things like before - no trace file, neither in the \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\MSCRM\Client nor the C:\CRMTrace folder.

Any idea how I can get the trace working?

Thx

Kathrin

    Hello,

Based on your comments you have added some entries on registry on local machine, however the entries should be added on the users in the registry.

You can have a look into community.dynamics.com/.../dynamics-crm-outlook-client-simple-list-of-troubleshooting-tools. Here you will find some troubleshooting tips including enable or disable tracing for Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook.

Could you try to type following path in the file explorer and check whether trace files are there?

    %localappdata%\Microsoft\MSCRM\Traces

The registry to turn on/off trace is not in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE path. It is supposed to be under HKEY_CURRENT_USER path. Check whether you can find the corresponding registry in this path:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRMClient
