Microsoft Dynamics GP - Fiscal Periods Question

Posted on by 1,610

Client typically has a calendar year 13 period Fiscal Year Setup.  Period 12 = 12/1/ thru 12/30 and Period 13 = 12/31.  They would like to change their period 7 for reporting purposes from 7/1 - 7/31 to 7/1 to 8/1 and period 8 would be 8/2 - 8/31?  Does anyone see anything wrong with this configuration.  Would moving to 14 periods for this calendar year be a better choice, leaving period 7 as 7/1 - 7/31 and period 8 8/1 to 8/1 and period 9 being 8/2 - 8/31?

Thank you

I agree with Frank - go for the first option.

I like what's behind Door Number 1.  I can't see having 14 periods with one in the middle of the year, 1 day long.  Make sure you run Reconcile on your Fiscal Periods after you make the change in Fiscal Period Setup.
