RECONCILE PAY CODES TO WAGES TYPES

(0) ShareShare

We have a situation where a pay code is not posting to the correct type of wage.  So when we reconcile federal wages etc.  we are out of balance.  Does anyone know of a report or tables that would help me trace the payroll by pay code to federal wages, taxable wages etc.

    Hi,

What do you mean by the pay code is not posting to the correct type of wage? Do you mean that it should be included in federal wages, but it is not? I've spent a lot of time with these payroll tables and can probably help, but I'm not sure what the question is. Is there a report or reports that are not showing what you expect? What are you expecting against what you are getting. Which reports are out of balance. I did a project not long ago that traced the data on the reports to the data in the tables. We were having a discrepancy between our FUTA/SUTA reports and the 941 Prep report.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

Thank you for the response and I am sorry I did not explain it very well.
We go to reports> payroll> period end and run both the payroll summary and the pay code summary.  This is where we are have the trouble.  The pay code summary does not equal the federal wages on the payroll summary.  We do have a few pay codes with a pay type piecework that should not be considered wages but we are taking those into account (side note if you have thoughts on how to change them to business exp.  I would appreciate it).
    I would appreciate any help.

I like Smartlist Builder reports for this because they are easy for users to use.  In SQL, verify that the tax settings for each code at the employee maintenance level match the setup level of that code (assuming you have the setup level marked properly).  Compare the Subject to tax fields in UPR00400 to UPR40600, UPR00500 to UPR40900, and   UPR00600 to UPR40800.
