Dynamic Quarterly Report - Management Reporter

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

I am trying to create a quarterly report and have my columns setup as follows -

FD FD FD
Actual Actual Actual
BASE BASE BASE
BASE-8:BASE-6 BASE-5:BASE-3 BASE-2:BASE
PERIODIC PERIODIC PERIODIC

It works when the periods are in the current year. But if i print the above for say Period 3 and Year 2011, then the second column always pulls data for 10/2009 instead of 12/2009. The first column pulls 9/2009 corectly and the third pulls 03/2011.

The issue is not with the columns, as if i use Period 6 and Year 2011, then the first column pulls 10/2009 instead of 12/2009. Any thoughts on what may be causing it to do so?

Thanks,

Sandeep.

I had a similar issue where I wanted 5 successive quarters of data. I built successive cumulative quarter columns eg base-2 to base, base-5 to base, base-8 to base etc., set these, except for the first one for the current quarter, to not print, then inserted CALC columns to subtract the "base-2 to base" from "base-5 to base" and so on to effectively yield "base-5 to base-3" and so on, and set the CALC columns to print. A bit cumbersome, but it worked.

    Hi Ryan,

I was just planning on updating this post when i saw ur response come in. I already reached out to support and they confirmed that this was a bug. The only workaround as of now is to hard-code the period (which kind of defeats the purpose), so that is what i have to do for now.

    Thanks,

    Sandeep.

    Hi Sandeep,

I tested this and was able to see a similar thing with certain periods when crossing fiscal years. I have written this up as bug 484318. If you want to open a support ticket in a few weeks the engineer can work with you in a non-chargeable case to let you know if any workarounds or any additional details were found on the bug.

Sorry to hear this doesn't work.

    Thanks

    Ryan
