changing Average to FIFO

In the online manual, it says that when doing year end closing you can change an item valuation. I have tried to change valuation globally and on a single item and get the same message that it can't change - Item exists on Inventory transactions and could not be updated. We were following the year end closing and have no unposted transactions.How can I change these items.

Christine, if the item exists on a Purchase Order, Sales Order, Manufacturing Order, etc., that will prevent you from making the valuation change. Make sure you don't have any open documents with the item on them.
