Hi.

As we are slowly updating users workstation operating systems to Windows 11 we have noticed that Edit in Excel feature is simply not working for this version of Windows and it's becoming a huge issue in accounting department. We currently still have users using WIN10 and for them everything is still working as expected.

    Hi Catharsis ,

Can you please check if you have installed Excel add in along the BC?

    Thanks.

Okay guys, I'm going to answer this one myself since I've found out what the issue was.

Somehow I was able to open Excel add-in DevTools and see errors in the console. and there were errors regarding insecure HTTP sources. So I found out that for our main BC instance oData was not configured to use HTTPS/SSL. We usually use different instance for oData web services.

After configuring this instance to use SSL on different port everything work on these Windows 11 systems too.

BUT, now the question arises, HOW ON EARTH did it work on Windows 10 workstations? How does operating system have anything to do with how MS services (az689774.vo.msecnd.net/.../*) treat HTTP sources. This quite boggles my mind.

Also this add in should be updated to add proper error reporting to feedback this kind of issue since it's very hard to debug empty error strings that are very common when it comes to everything Microsoft.
