Hi all,
I hav an standard menu item attached to a standard privilege which further linked to five standard roles via a duty. I want to change the access level of that object(in the privilege) using extensions for those five roles . Since privilege cannot be extended.
How do I achieve this scenario. Any suggestions pls
As far as I know, you can't do that.
In Security configuration form in D365 UI you can define to "Deny" access to some object - and then it will be stronger than the privileges in the role.
Hi Test Bot,
Could you please tell us the security object you are working on and what access level you are trying to set? Since this is a standard object, generally there would be privileges which have entry point(s) with a lower/ higher access level
Hi Gunjan,
"vendTableMaintain" privilege. object is "vendOnholdUpdate". access level is Update. i want to change the access level and need to create new privilege (custom) for that object. that new privilege should work for that five standard roles.
This privilege refers to a form for changing vendor status. The access level needs to be "update" as that's the only function of this form.
What would change the access level to?
HI Gunjan,
That standard access should be changed as "Read" and my new privilege should be "Update" or any other (user preference). This standard function should be avoided for the user
Not sure how access level "Read" will work as this is a dialog form with no data. You may hide this button instead by removing the entry point. As for your requirement, I believe it will be best if you duplicate the privilege and make the changes. You can then duplicate the security duty and role to create new ones and not use the standard roles for the users.
Gunjan,
Can you please elaborate "you may hide this button"?
So, if I duplicate the privilege, duty and roles (five), those roles only have to assign to users instead of standard roles. Right!
This is the button being controlled by the privilege entry point you mentioned.
You can just remove this entry point from the privilege which will hide the button. As
Yes. If you duplicate the security objects, you have to assign the newly created role to the users.
Thanks gunjan,
i will suggest the answer to my team and proceed further. thanks for the quick response
A few weeks back, I wrote a blog how to manage the security of vendor and customer holds: Security how-to: Only a finance user is allowed to change the on-hold status of vendors and customers
This blog should answer your question here.
