Add account address to a contact when creating a new contact (not via quickform)

Hi - if I create a new contact as a standalone contact I can then on the contact screen add an account that the contact needs to be linked to. When I view the account this contact then shows up on the sub grid. However when I add the account on to the contact it doesn't bring the account address through on the the address fields on the contact screen - is there an easy way of getting the address to populate via some sort of lookup?

You can implement this through java script, so you can write a script on the account lookup which can read the address information from account and populate it over contact form, easily something like this:

This is for CRM 2011, but you can just change context.getServerUrl(); to context.getClientUrl(); and add code to set another address fields. you can call this method on change of account lookup

You could create a workflow process that is triggered when the Contact record is created. Use an Update Record step to set the Contact's address1 fields to the value of the parent account's address1 fields. In CRM 2016, select "Company Name (Account)" in the workflow's Look For field to find the parent account's fields. You will need to map each component field of the address (Street1, City, etc.) separately.

It is nice to have this workflow as an on demand workflow. This way you can find bad data entries (contacts with no address) and update them from their parent accounts. (Occurs often if Outlook is set to auto-create contacts).

If a company moves to a new address the address details are not inherited by the contacts. Then the on demand workflow comes in handy again.
