Setting Up Concurrent Capacity

Posted on by 2
When my trays of plants finally reach the bench(machine center) to grow. They are now independent of lot size for run time. If I have 1 tray it's still the same run time as 50 trays. For the machine center I just put a capacity of 1 and concurrent capacity of 50. But this is not turning out to be right. I don't want to use setup time because my scheduling and planning starts to go off. Is there a solution to this other than changing the lot sizes?

    Setting Up Concurrent Capacity

Because your Routing has a Concurrent Capacity of 1, the Prod. Order consumes 1 of the Machine Center’s 39 spots. If you had another production order (also with CC of 1), it would consume the 2nd of 39 spots on the Machine.

If the tray contains more than 1 plant, but only consumes 1 of the spots on the Machine, increase your Lot Size on the Routing to say how many are growing in the tray.

For example, the machine holds 39 trays, and I am growing 1 tray of 6 plants for my production order. Your run time is still 65 days, but your expected capacity need will be reduced. Instead of 6 x 65 = 390 days, it will be (6 x 65) / 6 = 65 days. The grow time remains unchanged, but the capacity need is reduced because you are growing more than 1 in a tray.

If you have a tray that is larger, you can adjust the concurrent capacity of the Routing to consume more of the Machine’s available concurrent capacity.

Hope this is helpful. PLEASE test in a Sandbox environment before making any changes in your Production environment.
