I am looking to find out where a certain field is located throughout CRM 2016. This field is in many places and was wondering if there is a report or something that will show me all of the places in one view/report/spreadsheet, etc...

Hi,

if you go to the customizations area, you can ask CRM to show you all dependencies for the selected field:

PS. It won't show you everything, though. You will only see those areas where CRM can track the field (views, forms, charts, etc). If a field is used in some javascript, for example, then you will only see it this way if a field was also added to the "dependencies" portion of the javscript web resource.

Hi there,

Not sure how a field can exist in multiple entities unless it is a global option set but anyway, if you know the field schema name (or DB name) then you can export the whole CRM solution, open the customisations xml file and do a search all in visual studio, notepad ++ or other text editor. You will see where the field is in every entity.
