Dear team,

I am new to UDE environment. And trying to learn about PPAC...

I  have queries like , what is important role of Dataverse in UDE environment.

Usually we do ....

Developer VM
   ↓
Visual Studio (X++)
   ↓
Check-in to Azure DevOps
   ↓
Build Pipeline
   ↓
Deployable Package
   ↓
LCS Asset Library
   ↓
Sandbox / UAT
   ↓
Production

@ Is the same process flow in UDE environment?

Please give me the thoughts. thanks!

    Hi,
no. It is little different in the UDE.
You would have no DEV VM. you will do development locally on the Visual Studio (could be on your own laptop or anywhere). You will do the code, you will check-in, build and deploy.
There is no LCS in the UDE,

    Hi,

The Dataverse database is required to support features like dual write, Copilot features, virtual tables. Some parts of F&O are an app based on the "CE" technology. That data is also stored in Dataverse. Think of e.g. Project Operations core.
When doing development, there is no impact apart from Dataverse consumes some database capacity.

Developer VM (Can be your own laptop)
       ↓
    Visual Studio (X++)
       ↓
    Check-in to Azure DevOps
       ↓
Build Pipeline (Can use option to deploy model to online environment) if you only want to see changes.
       ↓
Deployable Package( you can check your deployment history from PPAC)
       ↓
LCS Asset Library (No LCS everything will be managed from PPAC)
       ↓
    Sandbox / UAT
       ↓
    Production

With UDE you will get a lot of capabilities. You code and deployments will be totally in cloud. You can leverage all the features from one place (if you go to PPAC environment you see two URL one if CRM and other F&O).

Check out above URL. The main idea to use PPAC is to bring one Dynamics and One Platform. Currently Power Platform (Contains a lot of things Dataverse, crm apps , etc) and F&O manged separately. But MSFT goal is to bring everything under one platform PPAC.

    Hi,
As you can do the development from anywhere (e.g. using your own laptop), you do not have a full system locally. Your visual studio is connected to an environment (an online environment), to which you are connected through a configuration.
This allows you to switch connections and doing developments for different customers/environments, as and when you want (You can switch the connection)
When you deploy the code, if you choose "Deploy to the connected/online environment" it would use currently mentioned connection.

If you build your changes in UDE, even if the build is successful, you will not see those change in front end because the code is available only in your local path, as shown in Shoaib’s screenshot(Folders for reference data). To view your changes in the actual environment, you need to use the option ‘Deploy models to online environment which while will move your metadata to cloud version of UDE

    Dear Sohaib and Sagar

"Deploy model to Online environment" still I have confusion about online environment.

Here online environment means cloud version UDE. Is it?

If our changes deployed in Cloud version UDE, then how will I know, in which UDE it's deployed.

Can get the list of cloud version UDE? So, that we get to know , where my changes has been deployed.

Please give me the thoughts. thanks!

    Hi,

When you open Visual Studio, you can connect to a Power Platform environment. That connects also to the UDE environment. When you deploy to the online environment, it is the single environment you are connected to. In case you didn't connect to a Power Platform environment directly when you opened Visual Studio, it will ask to connect when you want to deploy the model or want to synchronize the database.

Online environment refers to the actual, live environment. All development work and code changes are done locally. Your changes move to the real (online) environment only when you select “Deploy model to online environment.

To track your deployment status, Visual Studio will show all logs and messages in the Output window, so you’ll know exactly when the deployment is completed.

UDE also gives you same option GO to crm url search for “Finance and Operations Package Manager.”  app Under the Management> Package section, you can view all your deployment history. (similar feature you have in LCS history as well)

    Thanks Sagar for the reply...

Suppose we are four developers. So, all developers locally done there development and changes.

1.Is all four developers are connected with SAME LIVE Environment?

    2. Is Live environment is hosted in PPAC?

    3. If yes, in PPAC, where I will get the Live environment information.

Please give me the thoughts. thanks!
