Subaccount

Posted on by 95

How can you edit the name of a subaccount in SL Version 7?  I have gone into subaccount maintenance but it will only let me view the account and not make any changes.

    RE: Subaccount

SL access rights can be defined at both the group and user level.  The user level trumps the group level.  I am thinking that someplace your rights to that screen are limited.  I suggest you run the Access Rights report and apply a select filer on vs_accessrights.screennumber equal 0127000.  This will show each user and group and what rights they have to that particular screen.  since user rights trump group rights, see if you are listed on that report.  If so, does it show that you have update and insert rights.  If not, you will need to add that at your user id level.  If you do not show up, look at the various groups that have rights and see if any of them do not have update and insert rights.  If there are such groups, use the user screen specifying your user id and see if you are a member of any of those groups.  If you are a member of more than one group and one of those groups only has view rights, this could be your problem.  I am not 100% sure how SL handles users who are members of more than one group but I suspect precedence is determined alphabetically on the group id but it is also possible that it is determine based on the most restrictive group.

The bottom line is that it sure sounds like access rights is restricting your capabilities on that screen.

I have system admin rights and as you suggested went in and checked to make sure I have full rights to screen 01.270.00 (which I do).  But it will still not let me change the account description and also will not let me add any new subaccounts.  Any idea what could be causing this??

    Hello Csad,

You need to give the access rights to Sub Account Maintenance screen.

Go to the Administrator module-->open the Access Rights Maintenance screen

    1. select Type (either User or Group)

    2. Enter Group/User id on the Group/user ID field

3.Select the Company id (If you want to give the access rights to all the companies, Check the All Companies Check Box)

4.Click Preload button and it's open up the module screen.

5.Select the General ledger module and it will load the screens & Reports from GL Module.

6.Select the Sub Account Maintenance screen(01.270.00) on the Grid and check the Initialization Mode option on the Grid.

    7. Save the Access Rights Maintenance Screen

Now you can open the Sub Account Maintenance screen. you can update the sub account description

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Perumalsamy R

The following assumes you have sufficient rights to examine user rights.

You can check this on the access rights report.  If running SL 7.0 or 2011 it is under administration.  If running SL 6.5 it is under Utility.  Run that report.

Access rights can be assigned at the individual level or the group level.   The sub-account maintenance screen is 01.270.00.  Look for that screen under your user id or under any groups you may belong to (you can determine what groups you belong to by using the user maintenance screen).  Note that individual user rights take precedence over group rights.  You will want to see if you have update rights to that screen either at the user level or the group level.  If you do not, that is why you cannot change the description and you either need to be granted that right or the system administrator will have to change the description.

by name I mean the account description, I don't want to change the sub-account code.  How do I check to see if I have rights to modify the screen? I was setup to Admin rights to everything, but I wonder if something else needs to be done.

When you say "name" I am not certain whether you mean the actual sub-account code or its description.  If you mean the description then you should be able to change the description but only if your SL credentials give you modify rights to that screen.  You cannot change the sub-account code if it has been used in any postings or in account/sub-account maintenance.  If it has not been used then you can delete it and enter a new one.
