API request limit per October 2019

So as some of you might now.. There are new API limits being introduced to Dynamics 365.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-ca/power-platform/admin/api-request-limits-allocations

But here is my question.. What is counted towards the API requests?

Because what I see in the above link, doesnt seem to match what I see of actual API requests on https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com

If I have a look on the Common Data Service -> Statistics for API, I can see that we are reaching WAY above the levels described in the API allocation limits.

I tried to test it.. and it looks like any API call, wether its being triggered from CRM as a workflow, a plugin, an Advanced Find, Integrations through Scribe, Kingway or Marketing tools like ClickDimensions and Microsoft Marketing.. are all being counted towards the API limits..

But when I look at the description, it says:

This is not an issue for any of my normal users.. but for integration user perspective, I see a HUGE problem as Scribe, LogicApps etc. would easily go WAY above the mentioned numbers on just a medium sized company with integration to ERP or any type of portals.

So my question is... What is counted towards the API limits.. Are plugins, workflows, Advanced Finds, Integrations using Scribe, LogicApps, and all marketing efforts being counted towards the API limit?

And if so... I read somewhere, that we can purchase more API requests per user.. but I am unable to find any license on the CSP licenseplan that would address this.

    Hi Rune,

As per the article you shared above:

"What is a Microsoft Power Platform request?

Requests in Microsoft Power Platform consist of various actions which a user makes across various products. At a high level, below is what constitute an API call:

Connectors – all API requests to connectors from PowerApps or Microsoft Flow

Microsoft Flow – all Microsoft Flow step actions

Common Data Service – all CRUD operations, as well as special operations like “share” or “assign”. These can be from any client or application and using any endpoint SOAP or REST. These include but are not limited to plug-ins, async workflows, and custom controls making the above mentioned operations.

Note that for Common Data Service, there will be a small set of system internal operations that are excluded, like login and logout, along with system metadata operations like getClientMetadata."

Basically anything that calls the CRM WebServices is considered a request. When you Call advanced Find, this basically triggers a RetrieveMultipleRequest in the background

Same would apply for plug-ins & worfklows fetching or updating data.

Probably normal users won't reach these limits, however as you noticed Integration users would. What's left to do is to Optimize as much as possible (reduce the number of web service calls) and increase the call limit via licenses. From the article i take it that it will start from October 2019 so maybe this is why you can't see the license type in the O365 Portal? I suggest reaching out to MS Support and confirm this.

You can check this blog post also for more info: develop1.net/.../how-do-the-powerplatform-api-limits-affect-model-driven-apps

    Hope this helps,

    Radu

You found the same as me... But what I am trying to find out... Is how are we impacted on this SPECIFICALLY if we have an integration user set up to use f.ex. ClickDimensions... Will we have an issue there?

    What about Scribe?

What about real time workflows running in context of a user? Or Plugins?

Not too worried about the normal users.. but all the integration users, I see a potential issue.

I got confirmed from Microsoft that ALL api calls are counted towards the limit... That includes calls made by default workflows, Plugins, Flows, ClickDimensions, Scribe etc. Any update, create, retrieve, delete etc....
