Hello

I am new to this forum I hope I can get answer to my question. we have sql 2005 and GP 9.0 and I want to link GP and Microsoft Project 2010 together. Here is the detail in my GP we have 20000 items under parts which we want to link with project 2010 so when we enter the item # in the project it will pull up following info in to project currently we are entering all that info manually and it will create lot of error or typo by the user. Here is the e.g. So I want to create a button or link in the project 2010 so when user press ITEM # it will ask them to enter the Item # and once they can enter valid item # it will pull all the other info from GP.

Item # Item Location Code Record Type QTY On Order QTY On Hand QTY Allocated QTY Available Current Cost
1045000N DYNAMIC BRAKE GRID,RESISTOR 320 Site 0 6 0 6 $1,820.00

Here is my question

1. How can I do it?

2. Do I need any additional software or hardware?

3. Is it possible ?

Thank you in advance.

When I googel about Microsoft Project 2010 it says that we can do VBA programming but you contact Microsoft to make sure you can do VBA programming or not.

    Thanks

Can I user Project server to pull the data from GP? Is it Possible how can I find out before I buy project server?

Thank you again for all  your help.

That's a clever approach, no doubt. But in my opinion, it's also potentially unsafe in handshaking with GP data from outside. We must establish a connection with GP data server by passing on an authentication info., which would expose the data with less/no security. But yes, VBA with Project is indeed a good idea.

I think in Project 2010 you can do vba programming  then it is possible. It is easy to pull data from GP.

    Thanks

I don't think it's ever possible to link GP and MS Project at all; this is till current versions of both.
