Hello,
I am quite new to Microsoft GP and would like to ask a forum about on how to manage the selection of sub-assemblies having the latest revision.
In a new high level assembly I add new components to it, that is sub-assembly (BOM Type = CONFIG.BOM, BOM Name=PH-D) as an example. The D in the PH-D refers to the revision level on drawing. To keep track we don't delete but keep all the previous levels as in PH-A, PH-B,... PH-D being to most current revision.
The problem i am faced is that at at times unintentionally the wrong revision is selected, say PH-C instead of PH-D. Is there a way in GP to still keep and show the old revs but make them inaccessible? Say "grayed out". Of course there is a Active Date tag, but it would make life much easier if the previous revisions are locked.
Thank you,

I have the same question (0)I am not certain if you can change your business process or not. The BOM Name field in GP Mfg wasn't necessarily designed to be revision specific. It was designed to be a flexible feature where end user has multiple active versions (of BOM's) for the same FG Item Number. The BOM Entry field has Revision Field - right next to BOM Name. In your environment - you should have configured bom = PH - Rev D (different field) with the rev C-B-A being archived and always accessible. Seems like you started off on wrong foot using bom name as a differentiating versions rather than using the rev level field as designed.
