Warehouse Management of Batched Items

I'm stuck on receiving items with a specific batch. One PO can have multiple batch numbers for the same item, while many POs can have the same batch number for the same item. Items must be received into the warehouse, but batches cannot be mixed. Any help?

    Hi Danuelle,

Are you using advanced warehouse management functionality (WHS) or not? In WHS there is a parameter on location profile (Warehouse management> Setup > Warehouse > Location profile) called "Allow mixed batches" if you uncheck it you will be able to store only one batch in one location. So if you assign this profile to all required locations in the warehouse you won't be able to mix batches.

    Hi NataliiaS

I am using WMS and did disable "Allow mixed batches" items. The problem I'm having at the moment is that once stock is moved out of a location I still cannot move new stock, with a new batch number, into that location. The location only accepts stock with the same batch number.

How do I clear the batch number to not "stick" to a location?

    HI Danuelle,

This is possible, Your tracking dimension should be enabled, and when you do receiving ensure you do pick by specific batch or select the batch and split if you have multiple batches by qty.

When you move the stock to the location that does not allow mixed batches the system checks whether there is an on-hand inventory with another batch number, if yes then you get an error. So when you do movement with new batch number there should not be on-hand inventory with different batch.  Are you sure that there is no stock left in this location?

There is no stock left in the location, but the previous batch number is still associated with the location, preventing me from putting any new stock into the location. I have completed the invoicing process for all purchase orders and sales orders of the items previously in these locations, also ran a recalculation. It still doesn't allow new stock.

If you did not modify the system in this area then it sounds like a bug. What version are you on and what mobile device menu item are you using? In CU12 there was a hotfix KB 4014133 "Movement by template suggest location not allowed mixed batches ", so if you are using same menu item you can consider installing this hotfix.

    Hi Danuelle

What is the exact error you get when you try to move stock in to a location which once held a different batch?

    Hi Guy

The stock moves into an overflow location, even if there is an open location with no incoming work. I am using 365. If I switch to the On-Hand tab under Inventory that specific item-batch combination has no associated costs.

    Update:

I used a new item to test with, and batch enabled WMS worked perfectly. Thank you all for your help.
