Retail POS respond to external event (cloud pos)

I was wondering if it was possible to have the POS to subscribe to an external service event, like a webhook or a Signal R event.

In the simple case it would be to present a piece of information to the end user at the POS. Can a "host" process be created somehow. I do not think that the existing sdk samples matches a setup like this.

Secondary - Can you have a timer event - where you "pull" this information from a queue - insted of the "push" way.

Any inputs appreciated
