Dear Sir,

I have faced a new issue in Nav 2013 R2 IN. I need to restart the NAV Service every time for changes to take effect even if the changes are at the Page/Report level.

This is happening in a Particular Database.

Kindly help me to solve this issue.

    hi,

look at this old post by NAV Team Blog. may be useful

"About Object Metadata, and why I can’t see object changes in RTC"

Normally, the service tier should load such changes automatically - Object Metadata table should be updated when you compile the object. Check the event viewer at restarting, any messages?

    Hi Roberto Stefanetti,

    Good Article!

Already gone thru it. But SQL Broker does not fix my issue.

I have faced this issue in a Single stand PC while using Windows Login credential for DB access.

    RE: NAV Service needs restart

    - goto tools/options, set Object Cache (KB) to 0.

    - update to latest CU

    - work with a different database, e.g. nav 2013 r2 cronus/demo database. make some tests/changes, if you get the same behavior.

    - install nav 2013 r2 on a different machine, check if you have same issues. if not, reinstall nav 2013 r2 on your machine.

    - as alex suggests check error and warning entries in windows eventlog.

    - could also a sql server issue

    Hi Jonathan,

I have tried with  Object Cache but it's not helpful.

Object Metadata (properly) modification might be helpful...in this case..

I have reinstalled everything but it's still not enough.

One more thing I want to share with you....

The first attempt always fails to connect the Database (Thru RTC) after restarting the NAV Service with the following error message......

    ---------------------------
    Microsoft Dynamics NAV
    ---------------------------
The server "DynamicsNAV71" was unable to process the request. The application will close.
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------

Kindly help me to solve it..

    Hi,

It is strange as normally these kind of changes should be automatically updated in the system. To check the issue, you can create a new fresh DB and use the same service and check if the changes appear in the application without an issue? If yes then the issue is with DB.

If no, then create a new service and link it it with the new DB and check the changes appear in the system. If yes then the issue is with Service. Likewise you need to investigate more in these kind of issues. Let us know your findings, so we will be able to point out more for you.

do you have the same issue using the default demo database (cronus)?

if no, then there is a main issue with your database.

    The issue is still unresolved.

The backup file of the same db is working fine in the Other System.
