Setup for CPOS development

Hi folks

I have been trying to get a a development environment going for weeks now. I simply need to get to the point where I have a VS project where I can develop some extensions.

If I knew exactly what the problem is I wouldn't need to post. I have been through tons of documentation. And one of the general themes I am experiencing is I don't know what setup or route to follow. Most of the documentation seem conflicting. And the setup is so version related. Before 10.0.18 everything is different and from 10.0.21 we are stuck with the VS2019 thing. Some of the issues I am experiencing with MS docs:

  • The setup mentioned in the Retail SDK section conflicts with the setup in the POS independent-packaging SDK.
  • The method of writing extensions in the samples section of Point of sale (POS) extensibility conflicts with the method of writing extensions in the POS independent-packaging SDK.
  • The nuget package Microsoft.Dynamics.Commerce.Sdk.Pos does not exist.
  • The github project example does not match the Create a POS extension package project section.

Is there someone who can maybe create a blog post on how to set up an environment for CPOS extensions? If someone is willing to assist me with setting up an environment I will renumate you for your time.

Thanks for your attention

Here you can find a set of steps to create your own simple extension based on the shipped samples (all that is based on the the new Sealed Installers based SDK): Deploying an extension If you are new to the new SDK I suggest to read that article from the beginning.
