SOP Entry Prompts to Add customer ID repeatedly even if customer exists.

Appreciate if you could help us resolve this issue in SOP Entry Screen.

When the user enters an existing customer id and tabs out it prompts "Do you want add the customer ? Yes, No

Even if the user clicks "yes" or "no" it keeps prompting the message again and again. The user is stuck and forced to forcefully close the session by end task.

The issue occurs intermittently and randomly with different users.

There is customization which uses a database trigger to calculate a handling charges based on a percentage defined in customer maintenance user defined field. The Trigger is triggered at the line Item level .

Environment info: MS Dynamics GP 2016R2

SQL : SQL Server 2014

Satish Mulgi

First check if issue is occurring because of the customization by disabling the customization by going to tools>> customize>>Customization Status and disable the customization, if there are database triggers defined on SQL level then also disable them, if you will not get any issue then  it means customization is breaking gp code and forcing it to misbehave. :)

After know the reason of issue we can solve it nicely.

Another silly thing to check is that users are not copying the customer id from another document with copy and paste and sometimes "catching" an extra hidden character or space at start or end of the customer id?

I've seen this happen in the wild for item SKU numbers.

Thanks for your response. Just did a code walk through with the developer and identified some unwanted logic added to customer id change event. We have disabled these scripts in the customization and deployed the chunk. Waiting for feed-back.

i believe this would solve the problem.

    Thanks for support. Appreciate it
