request failed with HTTP status 404 when trying to create an Application

When trying to create a new application within CRM I try to save the new application but receive the error

the request failed with HTTP status 404 not found.

Any clues as to what would be causing this would be great. The account being used to create this new application does not have SQL access for one, but I dont believe that is the issue.

Thanks,

Eric

What kind of application are you creating? .NET or something with JS?

    Are you using web resources?

Which verson of CRM? CRM4, 2011 On premises, On line?

when trying to create just a application type:new with a orginating application type (which was delievered by datatel) and try to save and close it throws a

    http status 404 not found.

Version of CRM is 4.0. It is a onsite.

I am not super familiar with web resource.

We partnered with datatel as our data store so they have delivered a lot of preconfigured content that overlays CRM

    Hello Eric

When you type a response, click "Use rich formatting"

Then you will see a WYSIWYG editor. Click on the 10th icon on the second row (Insert image)

There you can select an image from your local disk

I that's what I was thinking. I was a bit confused from your first post

It looks like if you are trying to save a record for the entity "Application Type"

Did this work before or is it the first time you do this operation?

Have you tried contacting the vendor (Datatel?)

This has never worked as it is a brand new install of the software. I have contacted them and they still are trying to figure out what is causing it. They think its a SSL issue which I highly disagree with.

404 means that a resource can't be found so if their software is requesting a special page or something, then they should figure it out IMHO
