the date is missing or invalid Error when posting invoice

We are posting batch with July 12 batch date, July 12 transaction date, July 12 document date.

July 12 is open (2011 is closed).

Our positing is by transaction date.

On user defined fields, we set up billing dates in 2011.

We are getting ERROR: The date is missing or invalid.

COULD YOU PLEASE PROVIDE DETAIL INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO FIX IT?

Many thanks in advance!

I'm interested in what the User Defined fields have to do with your process.  Is this message part of some extended (custom) logic that someone has buit for you?

I believe user-defined field, such as billing period, should not case error: The date is missing or invalid.

We set up posting by transaction date?

    Am I wrong?

Can you run a batch edit on the batch?

Follow-up question, are these transactions typed in or integrated in some fashion?

Also assuming this is a GL batch.

    Many thanks!

    Those are sales batch (invoices).

    Those invoices are typed.

Could you please give instructions on how to run a batch edit on the batch?

    Sure.

    Open Sales -> Sales Batches

    Look up your Invoice Batch

Press the Printer Icon in top right of the window

(The Sales Document Print Options window will open)

Change the highlighted 'Print:' dropdown from Document to Edit List

    Print

This will do a non-post of the batch as if it was posting and will spew fourth any batch posting errors.

Quick Comment, It's possible that someone has keyed in a date that passed the window edit but is out of posting bounds (such as : 08/30/2212) but typically that will not interrupt a sales batch posting instead that transaction will just not go other will.  This leads me to question a bit your description of the details of the issue and at what part of the process you receive this error.  If you can detail the steps you take to post and then where this error occurs it might be easier to understand the issue.  I'd almost think someone has opened the Sales Batches window, keyed into the posting date field some weird date and the logic preventing you from entering a weird date wont let you even begin the posting process.

If the posting date field is grayed out you are set to post by document date, if not then it will be enabled and the error is caused as it cant post to 1/1/1900.

Sorry, I probably have more questions then answers on this but I'm pretty sure it's a user or process issue.
