Planning Worksheet Does not Pick Correct QTY

Posted on by 15,428

Hi

We have the following setup for one of our SKU

Replenishment System : Transfer

Transfer From Code : Location A

Reordering Policy : Lot-for-Lot

Damper period: 15D

Lot accumulation: 60D

Include Inventory Yes

Then we have the following

On hand in SKU location: 240

Total demand for SKU location: 300

Then when we run Planning worksheet system suggest to transfer 112 to SKU location. But based on Inventory and Demand it should be 40 and not 112.

UOM is the same and we have no different UOM.

I cannot figure out why is that.

 Thanks

RE: Planning Worksheet Does not Pick Correct QTY

    Hi Ben Baxter

    Thank you for your response.

    1) I defined myself as warehouse employee for that location and still nothing in Planning Worksheet. Even I used Configuration Package and took out Req Line table and no such a line exist there.

    2) Order Tracking shows production orders but the total usage of those production orders match the Even numbers. I even compared them with demand (QTY in Component) in SKU card for location and they are identical. Still Planning Worksheet requires the total QTY and does not consider on hand.

    3) Yes SKU is setup for both location with different parameters.

    4) I even took out entire inventory in SKU location (reclass it to other location) then run Planning Worksheet which suggested correct QTY. But when I added 240 back to location (reclass journal) again it suggested 112 instead of 58.

    5) I have used many different start / end date but the result is always the same with one difference, if I put the Start date of MRP (freeze zone) after certain date then system breaks the qty in 2 lines (which is expected).

Looks like system does not consider inventory on hand for this part (and some other parts). I could not fi

I have ran out of idea here. I wait for Microsoft to investigate and see if they can find anything unusual. I will report back the result.

    Thanks

When you are in the Planning Worksheet, select the line for this Item and click Line > Order Tracking.  This will tell you why the system is suggesting the specific line.  If your Order Tracking is blank, it is likely due to the date being in the past, try adjusting the dates in your test to make it possible, then see what result you get.

You mentioned SKUs, so I am assuming you have a SKU setup for both Locations in this scenario.

The error message is concerning.  Are you a warehouse employee in both Locations?  Maybe you can't see the line as you're not a warehouse employee for that Location.

    Hi Marco

Thanks. We opened ticket with Microsoft since even our partner could not figure out why. I will report the result back here.

RE: Planning Worksheet Does not Pick Correct QTY

    Hi Guy

    Thank you

    1) I checked all Journal and no open journal left. Still same result.

    2) I cleared item card as well. Still same result.

    3) Now this is the strange part. When I tried to turn on/off the ‘Include Planning Suggestions’  I got the following error . But the Worksheet with the same name is blank and has no line (even I selected all and delete and look into Configuration Package) but still shows this error. I do not know where to look to solve this error. Could be this error causing the issue? If yes how I resolve it?

    Thanks again for your help

    It definitely seems odd.

    Other things to check…

On the item availability by event, turn on/off the ‘Include Planning Suggestions’ to see what forecast projected inventory you are getting.

Clear the item card of any planning parameters so it is only looking at the SKU.

A bit of a long shot but seeing as this seems weird, check any journals that may have a negative qty not yet posted for this item. Can’t see why they would impact things but you never know. If you have item tracking on the item, a journal could contain reservation entries that are influencing the calculation.

    Hi Guy McKenzie

    thanks for response.

We do not have any forecast.

I except to show about 58 based on on hand and demand.

I looked by event and the strange part is shows 240 as Scheduled Receipt. Which I can confirm it is available in location. At the end even Event shows the location needs 58

    Thanks

Do you have a forecast included when running planning worksheet?

Also, do you expect the suggestion to be 60 rather than 40? (300-240)

I tend to open up item availability by event when trying to unravel unusual suggestions.
