Post GP 2015 Upgrade

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Running through a client upgrade and have a situation where the upgrade appears to complete successfully but the final complete message from Dynamics Utilities never displays and when I go to close Dynamics Utilities it says processes are running that must be completed first.  I let that window stand open for more then 24hrs and it never closes.

I force close Dynamics Utilities and open the application again and it runs the checks on Dynamics and Company versions.  It shows Dynamics and all companies as upgraded with green check marks.  Is there a way to clear that screen showing all companies completed so that it doesn't show on subsequent access to Dynamics GP Utilities.  When I compare it to my other GP installs, when you run Dynamics Utilities typically it will run the version checks but if all companies are upgraded it does not show the screen displaying the company with green check marks but goes to the screen with the drop down selection for "Add sample company data" etc....

Did you run the clear companies script? Maybe a company wasn't deleted correctly and utilities is stuck looking for it.

I've run the upgrade twice and both time it simply doesn't run the final script to remove the screen in Dyn Utilities showing all companies upgraded.  I was able to continue to the GP 2018 upgrade and has the same thing happen.  I can only assume that the upgrade ran fine since everything clears with green check marks.

The upgrade path is consistent and valid or it wouldn't get past the initial checks for version.

Are you upgrading from GP 2015 to 2018 ?

if so, which internal versions is it you're trying to upgrade to which version ?

    (i.e. 14.00.0898)

Can you restore from backups first and perform the upgrade again? You want to make sure everything does upgrade properly. Perform the upgrade on the server and before you upgrade run Check Links on all modules.
