Sales credit for product lost

Hi everyone

We need to register an inventory lost for a product in transit to the customer. We have created a credit memo but how can we do the accounting register regarding this lost.

We have thought of creating a warehouse especific with the G/L account related. Would be that correct?

You should do an inventory adjustment in cases like this.

That is the simplest way. You could also do a return order, but that is more complex in my eyes.

The credit memo put the quantity back in stock. As Inge stated, you want to remove that quantity through a negative adjustment.

If you setup a General Business Posting Group and its associated General Posting Setup with the Inventory Adjustment account desired, the item journal will post the desired accounting.

Hi, just adding some info.

If this requires a refund, it is recommended to create a Sales Credit Memo.

And if you do not need a refund, you can create a negative adjustment in Item Journal only.
