Installing Microsoft .Netframework 3.5 for SQL 2008

Hello,

For me to install SQL 2008 it requires me to install Microsoft .Netframework 3.5 when i was installing Microsoft .Netframework 3.5 it gave me an error and could not install. The error code is 1603.

Please what can i do so that i can install Microsoft .Netframework 3.5 .

Correct on Server 2008 R2 for sure.

Start > Administrative Tools > Server Manager > Roles > Add Role > Application Server (the important one is .NET Framework, add others as you see fit)

What OS version are you installing it on? I believe Windows Server 2008 and 2008R2 require you to add the server Role which contains the .net framework. You can no longer just install .net.
