Can a GP Extender field be set as required?

Posted on by 135

Hello,

We are curious whether an Extender field can be set as required.  We would like to add an externder window to the Customer Maintenance screen and require specific users to enter data.

Is this possible?

Thank you,

Jessie

We do not use Extender often, but just a couple of weeks ago, I was tasked with adding two new fields to the customer Class ID Setup window.  I added those before I read this forum question/anwer.  I just reopened the Extender setup window and used the Options for this new window and selected Auto Open with open method of Field Exit.  I also marked two of the three fields as required.  I saved and closed out of Extender maintenance.  I logged out of GP and logged back in then went to the Customer Class ID Setup window and opened one of the current class id.  I then closed but nothing happened (ie, extender window did not open).  What have I done incorrectly?  Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Dale

I have added a extender date field to RM Trx windows and set it as a required field with Auto Open on "Save" button to get more attention. I still can  x out and save the transaction, what am I missing here.

Rubal is correct. That is the correct way to set a field to be required.

You can set fields required by clicking the options button in the Extender Window.

If you want set the field required for specific users only, you will need to write code for it.

One option is you an open the extender window automatically whenever specific user make changes in the customer maintenance window.
