Problem with suggestions in Requisition Worksheet

Posted on by 27
Hi,
I really hope to find some help from this great community. As the headline says, I get really strange suggestions when using the requisition worksheet feature in BC.
Let me describe the problem:
In order to test the functionality I created a product from scratch and set the Replenishment system to Purchase. In the Planning section I set the Reordering policy to Fixed Reordering Qty and the Reordering point to 5 pcs. The Reordering Qty is also set to 5 pcs.
The item have no stock, no previous purchase orders nor any sales orders attached to itself.
In my world the Requisition worksheet should give me a suggestion of 5 pcs, right? But no matter the time frame I set when creating the worksheet the suggestion is 12 pcs. I can't get my head around this. Anyone have any idea why or have experienced the same issue?
For the record: I've tried to change Reordering policy to Maximum Qty. but with the same result: 12 pcs.
All the best

Problem with suggestions in Requisition Worksheet

This was quite some time ago but it wasn't resolved.

We built our own solution for this. It's not as complex as the built-in functionality but works better for most scenarios. We simply check the demands without considering any dates, e.g.

    - Current inventory qty
    - Qty on sales order
    - Qty on production order
    - Qty on purchase order

Also, the number of the reordering parameters is considered, before we sum this and present a suggested qty to order.

Not to any help to your problem, I guess but that's how we worked around the problem.

Problem with suggestions in Requisition Worksheet
Good morning Tony,  did you find an answer to this ?  I'm using locations & bins.  BC is just ignoring the available qty in stock,  no POP orders or SOP orders and just suggesting I reorder the MAX qty amount and ignoring i've got in stock!  Reading the documentation it should be Qty - Max Qty = Re-order qty.  Thanks Rick

RE: Problem with suggestions in Requisition Worksheet

The suggestion for 10 sounds correct, the first order of 5 will still leave you at your Reorder Point, therefore triggering another 5, so the system is combining them to suggest 10.  The suggestion for 12 is odd.

Are you using Locations?  If so, add the related SKU for the Location and see if the suggestion changes.  When using Locations (and everyone should) the system responds better when a SKU is present.

Yepp, No template with a safety stock qty or any other parameters set. Meanwhile, I changed some other values and if I set reordering value to 10, then the suggestion will be 10 psc. But if I change back to 5 pcs the suggestion is still 10 pcs.

I've forced a browser reload and a number of other actions but still with the same illlogical result.

    This is totally confusing.

Sure, you did not use a template to create the item defaulting a safety stock qty.?
