Using Account Categories in Management Reporter

I have a client who was using Account Categories in FRX and would still like to use them with MR.  However, some of the Account Categories (e.g. Property, Plant, Equipment) show as an error when added to a row definition, even though there are accounts with this account category.  The report then shows no data for that row.  Has anyone else come accross this?  Also, the client would like to have one line called net income, but their GL COA isn't seqeuential, and they have unit accounts mixed in.  Any suggestions on howt o handle this?  Thanks!

According to Microsoft, the fix in MR version 8 was to migrate over the categories.  However, I found that I still had to rewrite the reports to utilize the categories.  It didn't cleanly migrate over.

When you say there was a know bug with account categories that was fixed in RU8 what was the bug and how was it fixed? We are using RU8 and none of our reports correctly migrated so we have a least a week's worth of week correcting all of these very sophisticated reports. We will continue to run the FRx version of these reports until they are all corrected.

Thanks Ian.  It turns out that there were 2 issues here.  One is that account categories was a known bug that was fixed in Management Reporter RU8.  Additionally, the client had an & in some categories (e.g. Property Plant & Equipment).  By changing any categories with an & and moving to the latest version, the issue was resolved.

Hi - there was a change in how account categories are used in MR. In FRx the category number was used, in MR its the category description. Was this a migration from FRx? If so, account Category dimensions don't migrate. you will need to re-do those reports that previously used category values.

To get one line for revenue - you either need to add each account individually to the dimension set, or use account categories - and restrict that line on the report to where account category = 'XXXXX' [Sales?]

    Ian.
