Your patience is appreciated but I did google this first to no avail. I want to change the description on one GL account that has been used in the past but not recently. Is it possible to just change the description without other unforeseen negative outcomes? I found answers for changing many/all and using integration manager and PSTL but nothing for just one account in GP Dynamics 2015 R2.

That depends on what you are using to display the prior reports. Are you using MR, AFA, BI 360 or any other financial reporting tools? If you run a report that causes fresh queries to be run against a GP database it will pull whatever the description is at that time in GP. If you are pulling up a saved report it will display the description that was there the time the report was ran.
than you. when you say "be aware of the results in your financial reporting" do you mean it will show up always with the new description? no historical reports will show prior name?

There is nothing that prevents you from changing the description of your GL accounts.. it's just that you have to be aware of the results in your Financial reporting, as it's pulling the description from the GP master table.
