Word template is printing properly for all users but one...

ReportReport

I manage the word templates in my organization and I am pretty skilled at it; there is always more to learn.  I received notification that when an individual, who happens to be a Power User, attempts to print a purchase order, the template does not print properly. What could possibly cause this to happen?

Bill,

Thank you for the advice and support.  We are working in 2018 GP. There is no error in this instance simply a purchase order printed produces the incorrect template.  It almost looks as though the standard report is printing on a word document.  We have multiple companies in our system so each template has a hard coded company logo, ship to address and notes section.  All templates appear to be working fine for anyone who uses them except for a single individual.

If more information is required please be specific on what would be best to share.

I have the same question (0)

MelissaK6201, could you please post more information about the error encountered.  When you say does not print properly - that does not tell the community very much and therefore does not allow anyone to assist with your problem.

    Hello MelissaK6201,

I would approach this issue the following way:

    1. First, verify that the Modified Report is marked for Security if you are using a Modified Report/Template.
      1. Administration >> Setup >> System >> Alternate/Modified Forms and Reports
      2. If the modified version is not marked, test marking it and see it that makes a difference.
      3. If there is no modified report but should be, you will need to bring into this workstation from a workstation that has it.
    2. If the security for the report is accurate, let's make sure the correct template has security set.
      1. Administration >> Reports >> Template Maintenance
      2. Verify that the Modified Template is set to match your modified report.
    3. Once both securities are verified to be set the same and we have both a modified Report/template being used, determine if the issue still occurs.
    4. If the issue still occurs, on the problematic workstation, i would set security back to the core report and template and see if that prints correctly.
      1. If that does, your xml could need to be refreshed on the Template from the Modified Report.
      2. Re-add the XML to the template from the Modified Report.
      3. Bring the new template back in and assign security to it.
      4. Verify security is set to the modified report.
      5. Test if the template prints correctly.

    I hope this helps!

    Thank you!

    Melissa,

Like Bill said, you don't provide much details about "What" are the differences between a good report and a bad report output.. They say a picture is worth 1000 words.. if you can past here a screenshot of 2 outputs to compare, it might be easier to identify the origin of the problem (be that in security or Word Template settings).

    Brandon,

It was the security settings on the users system.  It has been corrected and is now working properly.  Thank you so much for your assistance and more for the user friendly set of instructions.

    Cheers!
