LCS Partner Organization vs Customer organization

When I accept an invitation to an LCS Project, I'm presented with a list of multiple organizations.  Depending on the account in question I may be presented with a bunch of Partner Organizations, or a mix of Partner or Customer Organizations.  I know that when I pick one of the options to Accept the invite, that project will always show up for me under that Organization in the picker under my avatar in the upper right corner of LCS.  But what do these different options actually mean?

In One case, the partner organizations have different names and Voice IDs or show up as an Office 365 account.

Thanks for any thoughts you have.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Jingseng,

I'm not yet on the same page with you. Can you elaborate what exact options you are referring to? Probably a screenshot could also clarify your question.

Attached is a screenshot of what we see when people accept an invite to an LCS Project.  This is one example where all the options are Partner options.  I have another login where we have similar options, but in that case 2 are partner options and one is a customer option.

I'm curious to understand what changes depending on which of these options I select.

One of my end users said he once picked a Partner option and had different features/options inside of the LCS Project than he normally sees when he chooses the Customer option.  But he hasn't done that in a while so I don't know the exact differences he saw.

    Hi Jinseng,

Your account can be associated with multiple customers and vendors. There are indeed differences between a customer implementation project and a partner project. E.g. from a partner project you can deploy as many environments as you like as this is linked to an organization subscription. From a customer project, you can only deploy the number of environments which is part of the licensed subscription. By default a customer has the option to deploy 1 UAT and 1 production environment, unless the customers want to add some add-ons for more non-production environments.

That does help.  The interesting thing is that at my company virtually all of our environments are in our Customer option instead of our Partner option.  And I've been told by our consultants that their options were more limited when selecting Partner organization instead of customer organization.  Maybe it's different for us because we're a MS Partner with F&O/UO competencies.

One other question.  When I'm invited to a Customer's LCS project and am presented with the above screenshot (asking me to select one of multiple partner organizations to associate the infit/project to), do you know why I'd choose one over the other?  Might one organization provide different support options, or does it affect some "Partner of Record" type thing?

    Thanks.

    Hi Jinseng,

It would be related to which account will be used to view the projects and also use the Support options.
