Hi,
I have configured Server-Side Synchronization to establish connection between Microsoft Email Online Exchange and Dynamics CRM (On-premise). Everything looks working as expected but I am unable to figure out which Authentication method it uses in background. Basic Authentication or Modern Authentication? Could someone explain me how authentication works here and which method is getting used?
The reason we shifted to Server Side Synchronization from Email Router is, Email Router was using basic authentication and its going to deprecate on 31st Dec 2022 and Microsoft recommendation to move to modern Authentication.
Hi Partner,
Modern Authentication.
If you're using our online service or on-premises (Dynamics CRM on-premises 2016 SP1 or later), server-side synchronization provides options to connect to Exchange Online using modern authentication options that don't depend on Basic authentication.
For how to connect Dynamics 365 on-premises to Exchange Online, go to Connect Customer Engagement (on-premises) to Exchange Online.
Customer engagement apps support server-side synchronization with Exchange Online in the same tenant with Server to Server Authentication. Other authentication methods or settings are not recommended or supported
