Is there a configuration that defines the type of Customer Information contact types that can be added to the Customer record?

We're fairly new to D365FO for our organization and I'm trying to add a record in the Contact Information section on a Customer record. However, the only option I get is a Phone record.  It creates a new entry with that locked in place and I can't use the Advanced option to change it.  I need to add an Email address record.  I can do this at the Contact Record level for contacts of the Customer, but not directly to the Customer record.

Is there a configuration somewhere that allows us to set additional contact types at this level?  I have Sys Admin permissions and don't think it's related to permissions.

    Hi IT Happens,

The Type field is available for editing only when creating a new record. Once the record is saved, it is blocked.

I just tried to reproduce it, but when creating a new record, I'm able to change it. If you create a new record and the field is without save action not active, you can check if there is a personalization. You can also check if it is caused by a customization or add-on solution.

When this all doesn't help, you can contact Microsoft Support.

Update:  We do have D365FO integrated with Dynamics CRM for Sales via CDS.  The control setup may lock the Customer record in D365FO.  We're checking into this.  I haven't seen anywhere in CRM to create the entries that would populate the Contact Information in the D365FO Customer record.  I'll update as I learn more.

Final Update: With the integration of CRM and D365FO, there is an "Is Externally Maintained" flag on the Customer record in d365 that prevents editing of customer data in D365 by forcing changes to come from CRM if it is checked.  After I unchecked this flag in D365 on the customer record I'm testing with, I was able to add the necessary Contact Information on the record.  So this resolved the issue.  If needed, I can set that flag on again.
