ReportReport

Good morning, please your help with this problem. I have a Power BI report, and I need it to show up in a D365 workspace. Do it by following this link, having D365 and PowerBI Administrator account. But when trying to display it in this path, it appears empty.

    Hi Elozyx,

Can you try to debug and see if the initializereportcontrol is called as expected? Please also try to do a restart on the environment or restart services and check again.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi elozyz,

First of all, make sure your workspace is deployed to Tier-2+ environment(UAT or PROD) instead of testing the embedded power bi report in Tier-1(Dev) environment.

If the snap-shot you provided is in Tier-2+ environment, is there any specific errors you received while you access to this workspace?

Have you refreshed your entity store after you deployed this embedded power bi package?

    More information:

    • ODATA was used in the development of the report.
    • In the development environment: the environment was restarted. It remains the same with the empty workspace.
    • In Production and UAT environment: Error message: "Failed to publish Power BI Embedded report ASPurchaseSpendReportV2".

    Hi elozyz,

First of all, do not try to test any workspaces in Dev environment, it's not official support. Deploy your custom workspace to UAT environment and working on testing in UAT is the suggest way.

Secondly, error message "Failed to publish Power BI Embedded report ASPurchaseSpendReportV2" is a very generic error message and will not help much on the issue identification.

Since the report shows V2, is this the first time you trying to deploy a custom workspace and experiencing this error OR there used to be some custom workspaces successfully deployed to UAT environment?

If this is the first time you trying to develop a custom workspace, I will suggest to check

    1. the Power BI desktop version you are using for developing the pbix file. September 2020 version Power BI desktop is not supporting yet, you will need to use August 2020 version instead.

    2. Use "Direct query" mode for your pbix file(Import mode is not supported).

If you are using August 2020 version of Power BI desktop version, I will recommend to raise a support request to Microsoft for further trouble-shooting.

    Hi Ziyao,
    Thank for response.
In my case "Direct Query" is not used.
    OData is required.
    Please your help.

    Hi elozyz,

While you trying to develop a power bi embedded report, you need to understand how it works and if this way of developing will stratify your business requirement, below are two links that you will need read through:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../author-distribute-power-bi-reports

    docs.microsoft.com/.../add-analytics-tab-workspaces
