Can I download GP/FRx with sample data this way I can familiarize myself with the system?

Hi,

My company is transitioning to using GP/FRx and I want to be pro-active and start getting use to this new system.

Does Microsoft offer a GP version that I can download and install on my PC with sample data?

FRx has long been discontinued so I would look at MR. You can also contact your reseller and they can load GP with sample data. I also believe if you have an MSDN or Action Pack subscription you can download GP yourself and load the sample company. You can test drive this company but not use it in production until you obtain registration keys.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I'm just a Financial Analyst at the company I work for, so I don't have the authority to contact the reseller or even know who our reseller is...lol.

I just wanted to test-drive GP on my personal computer this way I can better educate myself on this platform before the company I work for goes into production with it; which is 3 months down the road.

Is there a free demo version I can download to test without needing to purchase a MSDS or Action Pack subscription?

I do not believe there is a free download for GP anywhere plus you would want someone who knows GP to help you get started. There is more to installing GP than just GP. You will need SQL with SSRS and other components plus setting it up needs a little knowledge. See if you can talk to your IT staff and have them get it installed onto your laptop.

As Richard said, Dynamics GP is not an off-the-shelf software like office or any other commercial Windows product..

There is way more than just the installation, and it requires some thorough knowledge of various products to get you properly setup.

If you want yourself get ahead of the project, ask your IT dept or whoever is in charge, to get involved early as a test user once the system has been installed in your company..

Almas,

This is old stuff (4 years old).. I would never recommend anyone looking up for a GP version that is 2 or 3 versions back already, even just for a trial..

And since they do already seem to have a partner for the newly selected ERP, bringing in another partner (Intelligent Technologies) will just create more confusion..

Beat,

The reason I shared a link is so he can know what is GP look like, not to introduce or suggest another partner. (If they still are providing the trial, there must be for newer version too like GP2016 ).

I believe with all these new version, Financial knowledge and accounting standards still remains the same (with definitely more user friendly interface and more options available to do daily business chores easily).Still I don't see any difference in creating of purchase order, creating a sales order or invoice, deciding to hit GL or not, same credit memo/return document etc.

Just my thinking!
