Hi Folks
Looking for a way to speed-up our inventory taking. Here is how we did it in the pass - download a CSV from RMS by department ie: Itemlookupcode, Qty, Description . We put this data into a spreedsheet on a laptop (watching on how we import since we have ILC which are alphanumeric) - sorted by ILC.
Go around store Ctrl-F (enter ILC number) , count quantity, add amount in new column - if off by alot we put a star beside it - in case we have some more items somewhere else.
I do have an extra USB Metrologic USB scanner - so I could add Alias to the download which is the existing barcode on the item in addition to our ILC. Not sure that would save me alot of time or not? We also have done in the past, a paper version - print-outs of spreedsheets and had inventory takers highlight any ILC where quantities On-hand didn't match. This was good since it provided us with a hardcopy of the inventory - to track down potential mistakes.
After inventory is done we do a CSV inventory import via RMS inventory> Physical Inventory etc...
Any suggestions would be appreciated. We usually setup a few laptops and each person goes and does a different department.
Thanks
Danny

using excel scan the item and next column put the quantity. Do this for all items.
Then sort and summarize by item ILC or UPC . Create a other sheet with total per item
if u use a ILC ===> update table Item
if u use UPC bust be use table Alias, then with that key use te table item and update the quantity
Also if u do a previous backup of this table u can run some comparative between backup_item and updated Item
Not sure what you mean? What software - more details would be appreciated.
Thanks
Danny
other idea use an other app (Intranet o excel ) scan items intro the quantity when is finished sup total per item and finally update table Item with the new qty
