When I installed Great Plains 2010 the max segments and max length are incorrect.  How do I make the change?

Can someone give me a step by step instructions?

I tried finding the information in the tables to no avail.

I tried changing in the dex file but that didn't help

Thank You

Tough question! I been able to do this before with one of my customers but has to modify the database and then resynch account framework for dexterity to get this done, but before doing this you might need to consider the following:

    1. Do you have Analytical Accounting installed? AA uses the framework of your installation for account class link.

    2. How many companies do you have? Do you need to extend this for all companies?

    Thank you

I need to check to see if I have Analytical Accounting.

I company, but when I try to reinstall it doesn't ask me for the account structure

The Dex.ini I didn't see account structure in the file.  Which files should I be looking at.

    Thank You,

    Karen

The account structure isn't in the Dex.ini. But - is this a brand new company? If so - it might be an option to uninstall and reinstall GP? That way - you can choose the correct Account Framework from scratch (You should always choose the max framework - I can't think of any reason why you wouldn't).

Or are we talking about the Account Setup within the company?

Account structure is not stored in the Dex.ini by default. It is wrote to the DUinstall.log file but this does not need to be changed. If you haven't entered in accounts or transactions just delete Dynamics and the company databases and start over. If you already have entered data and do not want to start over you have two options:

    1. Purchase reformater (3rd party).

    2. Work with your partner/Microsoft to do a account framework change.
