We have an on-premises D365 environment, email is stored in O365. We use Classic Outlook and are able to Track emails just fine with the add-in. However, it doesn't seem possible to do this with the "new Outlook". I've seen articles that indicate you can, but I think they are speaking of a cloud based D365. There isn't even a Microsoft Dynamics 365 app in the app store, you have to download it from a different site (Microsoft Dynamics 365 App for Outlook). Anyway, I'm curious if anyone is using my scenario with new Outlook and able to track email for D365 (on-premises D365). I've looked at this article, but I'm not able to get this to work: How to Track Emails to Dynamics 365 with the New Outlook
Good morning, afternoon, or evening :) depending on your location! Tracking emails in Dynamics 365 (on-premises) with the "new Outlook" can be challenging, as the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook is primarily designed for cloud-based environments. However, there are some options and considerations for on-premises setups: Options for On-Premises Email Tracking
Category-Based Tracking:
Dynamics 365 (on-premises) supports tracking emails using the "Tracked to Dynamics 365" category in Outlook. Assign this category to emails, and server-side synchronization will sync them to Dynamics 365. Learn more about this feature here.
Folder-Level Tracking:
You can set up tracked folders in Exchange and move emails into these folders to automatically sync them with Dynamics 365. This method works with Exchange Online and Outlook on the web. Details on configuring folder tracking can be found here.
Dynamics 365 App for Outlook:
While the app is not available in the Microsoft Store, you can download it from the official Dynamics 365 site. Ensure that your on-premises environment meets the compatibility requirements for the app.
Key Considerations
Server-Side Synchronization: Ensure that server-side synchronization is correctly configured for your on-premises environment.
Compatibility: Verify that your Dynamics 365 version and Outlook setup support the tracking methods mentioned above.
If these options don’t resolve the issue, it may be worth exploring alternative solutions or reaching out to Microsoft Support for further guidance. Hope this helps!
