Do both;
Name of the Server for Named Pipes
IP address of the Server for TCP/IP
When you click on "ADD BUTTON" to enter the Server name which option should i choose on the left? Name pipes OR TCP/IP?
should these settings be applied to hq server and manager workstations. I have changed these systems and now we are getting Run-time error -2147217865 Invalid object name '#Temp'. Errors on the workstations. So either this work around is only for SOPOS workstations or I have something misconfigured in the HQ manager systems.
When I have run into this problem, the fix for that day has always been to remove whatever was left of the failed transaction and then create it again. You will need to look at [transaction] and transactionentry, possibly taxentry, tenderentry, and dailysales. obviously not journal, and maybe the quantity of the items involved. Sometimes I have also had to adjust the sales total in the batch record as well. Be careful not to double charge the customer if EDC has already obtained a credit card approval.
this is a common problem and has been answered many times. Here is text from one recent posting:
If 1.3R or 2.0 and using SQL 2005,
Start | Programs | SQL Server 2005 | Configuration Tools | double click on
SQL Native Client Configuration on the left | double click Client Protocols
|
make sure that Named Pipes is enabled | right click on Named Pipes and
select
Order | change so the order is 2 if Shared Memory is #1, TCP/IP should be #3
| close
Start | Programs | SQL Server 2005 | Configuration Tools | SQL Surface Area
Configuration | Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections |
select Remote Connections on the left | make sure that Local & Remote
connections and Using both TCP/IP and Named Pipes is selected | close this
screen Select Surface Area Configuration for Features | select Enable
OPENROWSET and ... | close entirely
For all machines with RMS installed;
Start | Programs | Microsoft Dynamics RMS or Retail Management System |
Client Network Utility | move TCP/IP and Named Pipes to the right hand box,
making sure that Named Pipes is on top | select the Alias tab | Add button |
put either the computer name of the database server machine or the IP
address
of the server machine | close (The database server machine should always
have
a static IP address, that's another post)
