I have added a new field to TASKS that i've made required.  however i can't seem to add it to the task quick form (the one you have avaialble in a contact record) and it seems i can still create tasks without this field filled in.

is there any way i can customize this form (or make a copy of it) even though it says "Customizable = false"?

thanks in advance.

I think you are talking about the task form on Social Pane, if yes, you can't change that screen at present, Social Pane does not allow any customization. If you want to get your field you need to create task from activity associated view that you can refer from the drop down next to your contact name in top application navigation bar. Or you can add a custom command bar button  to create task, something like this we added button for phone call : http://himbap.com/blog/?p=1722

    Hope it will help.

    Thanks
