    Hi,

    Automatic Ext. Texts:

You can set up extended standard texts for items and when turning on the option "Automatic Ext. Texts" those will automatically be added to documents. Please see more information here:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../ui-how-define-ext-text

    GTIN:

    Definition from field help:

Specifies the Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) for the item. For example, the GTIN is used with bar codes to track items, and when sending and receiving documents electronically. The GTIN number typically contains a Universal Product Code (UPC), or European Article Number (EAN).

Hope this helps to clarify the usage of those fields.

    Josh,

Automatic Extended Text allows you to create additional Description lines for specific documents. Say you want the Item Description to be detailed and it has 3 lines with the description. You can add Automatic Ext. Texts for Sales Documents and it will insert these lines automatically when you insert the Item.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

I have calculated after checking the Automatic Extended Text. the numbers of text is still 50 characters.

May I ask where can I see the extension?

    Josh,

You are correct that each Extended Text line row is 50 characters but you can insert multiple rows. Here is an example...

Go to the Item Card and navigate to the Extended Text, The Extended Text will open. I made 3 lines:

I also made sure the extended text appears on Sales Order. Now enter a Sales Order for my Item and after I hit enter, after entering the No., the Item will display Description and Extended Text below.

I know my images are BC, but the process and concept the same (did not have my NAV database open).

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I read through your reply, but that is the thing after I check the "Automatic Ext. Text" Nothing happens.

    Image

I don't see the space where you mentioned "The Extended Text will open. I made 3 lines" anywhere on my item card. I have already enlarge all the boxes. Is there something I'm missing?

    Hi Josh,

to add extended text you need to go to tab Navigate on your item card, then click Extended Text, then New and then you can create new extended texts:

    Josh,

On the Item Card Navigate to related Item setup called Extended Text. Here you will enter the 3 lines I noted.
