MICR String on Bank Account

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Currently trying to implement a MICR printer to run cheques (Microsoft Dynamics 2013) having issues with the spacing of the MICR account line matching the the Bank requirements (HSBC & CIBC).  Adding in spaces (ie hitting Space bar) when entering the MICR String on the bank account card has only gotten me so far and I am still off the requirements when testing the cheques using a MICR gauge that was purchased.

How do you implement the correct amount of spacing between the various characters when entering in the MICR string characters to ensure they will print according to the banks requirements?

Thank you, Chandeep.  We purchased the CheckPrixa MICR E13B Font today and installed it.  I'll send a test to HSBC tomorrow.  We may to go the route of separate MICR lines like you but one step at a time.

Janine, we are using 14.8-font size for the MICR line. We actually purchased MICR font from Digital River (Font Description:CheckPrixa MICR E13B Font) before we purchased our MICR printer (Laser Jet Pro M203dw). Most MICR printers will include the font itself. For us the biggest difference in meeting the Bank requirements was creating the separate MICR lines on the bankcard itself in NAV and being able to move each sequence separately by the necessary mm.

Chandeep, we are also using BDO for our NAV development on this Cheque Print Out-of-the-Box.  What MICR Font are you using for the MICR line?

This  was solved with a lot of development by BDO our external consultant. Essentially we split the MICR line fieild on the bank card into three field (Cheque #, Transit, and Account). This change allowed us to have our consultants move each sequence the desiried millimeters we needed when in order for everything to line up when we tested with our MICR gauge.

Chandeep, I am having a similar problem whereby HSBC is failing my MICR font.  It's like it's colouring outside the lines.  Were you successful in getting your cheques approved by HSBC?  If so, what is the name of the MICR font you used?

There isn't a way to increase the font spacing. You will have to create a new font. Have you tried to increase the font size?
